Premodern: "Meddling Mages"

Premodern: Meddling Mages follows the usual Premodern rules and ban list, with the following exceptions:

Deck Construction

Meddling Mage is banned.

Players will submit their decklist by a deadline determined by the event organizer.

Gameplay

Players will be provided a copy of their submitted decklist at the beginning of the event for their opponents to review at the beginning of each match (see below).

At the beginning of each match, players must perform these steps before randomizing their decks:

  1. Each player provides their opponent a copy of their decklist.
  2. Each player chooses one non-land card from their opponent's main deck and/or sideboard they would like removed for the entire match. The players secretly write down their chosen card name and simultaneously reveal them.
  3. Each player removes all cards of the card name revealed by their opponent from their main deck and sideboard. These cards remain face-up in the exiled zone for the entire match (all games played). Note: this will result in main decks with less than 60 cards and sideboards with less than 15 cards.
  4. Each player should note the new size of their main deck. Each player should treat that as their minimum deck size for the entire match (see below for sideboarding).

Note: The card you choose does not impact your main deck and sideboard. Meaning, if you choose a card that is in both your deck and your opponent's deck, only your opponent will remove that card.

Sideboards

The wish cycle (e.g. Cunning Wish, Burning Wish, etc.) can only retrieve cards from your sideboard in modern rules, so the banned cards cannot be retrieved in that way. The exile zone is still part of the game.

In sideboarded games, each player must present a legal deck according to their minimum deck size that was determined at the beginning of the match (see step 4 above).
